Eat ST.

This afternoon we ventured over to the hugest food fair in Portland. There were what seemed 100's of 1000's of people. The line to get in alone was 6 blocks long and folded back on itself.

You c the buildings in the center background? The line goes past those! It was mass organized chaos. It cost about 40 to get in and then everything was free except alcohol. The lines were enormous and just to get a bite sized portion of something you had to wait an average of 20 minutes to get it, for each stand!

This was the main artery, it goes to the very end of the bridge. And I am standing in the center.

Tgis is one of the smaller lines for water and alcohol.

I love my wife for making this day a savory experience we will never forget.

Inspired Rant

Over the 20 years of making ads, art, billboards, and all the other visual candy humans have thought up to show people and make them crave or vomit at... I am quite amazed at the evolution of how we as a culture, just in the U.S., want to see things presented and created. From how actors act on TV, how products are built and advertised, what we hear on the radio and how GD's think up new ways to shape our perception of things. I can look at most of the shops and small businesses around where I live and immediately can tell how much someone paid on the look of their business. Or for that matter, how much someone should not have spent on good material and bad ideas.

Our job is to listen to our clients people! Ask the right questions and get our money givers to spill the beans on everything we need to give them exactly what they want... In the end, (for the most part) more money. If your designs don't communicate the service or product and what it does, you might as well be an artist. Anyone can be an artist that makes subjective work that can be interpreted in numerously different ways. A Graphic Designer makes defined work for a client that says a defined message.

Thank you Chase for inspiring this mini rant on gd.
